Chapter 298 - 297: Legendaries acting as Courier service
Chapter 298 - 297: Legendaries acting as Courier service
Deoxys had left peacefully after the short conversation. Gladion stood near the crater where the meteor had crashed. Now came the hard part. He had to figure out how to take the entire meteor back to Moonwood Town without anyone noticing.
'Yeah, I have no doubt that Hoenn would want the meteor to themselves if they realise just how much Moon Stone it has. Or well, that it is mostly entirely Moon Stone,' Gladion thought.
The value of this single rock was enormous. It could supply moon stones for thousands of Pokémon for at least a century. If the Hoenn authorities found out, they would claim it immediately.
'There is no way I can call excavation teams to just mine here. It is too big to be transported openly. Even if I transported it in parts, the Hoenn patrol and border teams would just confiscate it. That means there is only one way.'
Gladion turned to look at Latios and Latias. The two legendary dragons instantly understood what he wanted. They floated closer, their expressions showing they already knew the request coming.
Latias crossed her arms and spoke first, her voice carrying a mix of annoyance and playful anger. "Fine, we will do it. But this is not how you treat your big brother and big sister. We are not carriers. Especially for such a large distance. We will have to tell your mom that you are not caring for us properly. She will be very disappointed in you, little brother. Imagine her face when we say you made us carry a giant rock across the ocean like common delivery Pokémon. We have dignity, you know. We are legendary dragons, not moving trucks."
Latios nodded seriously, though a small smile tugged at the corner of his mouth. "She is right. We fought a space alien for you tonight. Now you want us to play cargo service? What is next? You will ask us to deliver pizzas across regions? We deserve respect. Maybe we should go on strike until you apologize and promise to give us extra treats for a month."
Latias continued , floating in a small circle. "And do not think we will forget this. Every time you ask for a favor in the future, we will remind you of the night we carried a mountain-sized rock because our little brother was too greedy to leave valuable stones behind. Your mother will hear all about it. She might even ground you from battles for a week."
Gladion folded his hands together and gave them his best pleading look. "Please, just this one time."
The two legendaries looked at each other, sighed, and finally agreed. "Fine," they said together.
Latios and Latias focused their psychic power. Their eyes glowed brightly as they lifted the massive meteor out of the hole in the cave ceiling.
The huge rock rose slowly into the air, surrounded by a soft blue psychic aura. Gladion watched in quiet amazement. He was sure that only a hundred psychic-type Pokémon working together could pull off such a feat.
The two dragons made it look almost effortless. They began flying steadily toward the direction of Moonwood Town, carrying the enormous meteor between them.
Gladion turned to the rest of his team. Colossus stood nearby, looking visibly sad.
"Why are you sad, buddy?" Gladion asked gently.
Colossus looked down at the ground. "I did not get to do much in the fight. We did not even get to mega evolve. I was hoping for a good fight against a legendary."
Gladion walked over and placed a hand on the Tyranitar's hard head. "Aww, my little… I mean big battle maniac. Hmm, let us see if I can convince either Latios or Latias to spar with you once a week. That should help satisfy you."
Colossus perked up slightly. "Really? A weekly spar with one of the legendaries?"
"Yes," Gladion promised. "I will talk to them. You deserve real challenges. You are one of the strongest on the team. I know you want to push your limits. We will make sure you get the fights you need. Maybe we can even work on your mega evolution timing during those sessions."
Colossus nodded, looking much happier. "Thank you. I want to be useful. I want to protect you better."
"You already do a great job, Colossus," Gladion said. "Tonight you tanked that shockwave without complaint. I am proud of you. We will get you more battles soon. I promise.]
Gladion chuckled. "Alright, everyone. Let us head back."
He teleported to the base of the mountain as he put all his Pokemon in their pokeballs.
Once on the ground, Gladion contacted the local Aura Guardians and gave them a brief report of what happened.
"It was a Pokémon equal to a legendary. An extraterrestrial Pokémon," he explained. "It seems that the meteor it was living in headed to Earth and crashed here. It did not want to leave, so we had a brief scuffle."
The Aura Guardians looked at each other. They had seen the distant explosions and heard the loud sounds from their position. It did not look like a "brief scuffle" at all. But they did not comment on it. They simply listened as Gladion continued.
"He has moved from this place and do not worry, he agreed to follow the rules," Gladion said.
The Aura Guardians breathed a sigh of relief. One of them spoke up. "We need to get information about that Pokémon to all rangers. If anyone encounters it, they should report immediately and avoid direct conflict."
"I will tell Professor Oak about it," Gladion replied. "He will add information about Deoxys to the Pokédex."
They nodded and bowed respectfully. "We thank you, Guardian Gladion, for supporting us in our time of need."
Gladion waved them off casually. "It was no problem. Stay safe."
He teleported away, leaving the Aura Guardians behind. As he disappeared, he thought to himself, 'Deoxys though seemed exhausted before we even fought. So he might have fought someone before he came here and that fight might have directed its course to here.'
'And the only Pokémon that I can think of is Rayquaza.'
