Chapter 456 - 456: Armed to the Teeth

Chapter 456 - 456: Armed to the Teeth

"Aw hell yeah, Now this is what I'm talking about! Why the hell didn't you do this before?! We could have defended ourselves if it wasn't for your selfishness."One of the useless idiots spat out at Xander while snatching the assault rifle and spare ammunition from his hands. Xander, his face sickly white and barely able to stand, let out a weak scoff as he collapsed to his knees.

'Selfish... Yeah, How about I bleed you like a stuck pig, see how generous you are Asshat...'

His head was swimming, completely unable to form a coherent sentence never-mind aim his own guns. Making all of those guns had completely taken it out of them, and then there was the ammunition he had to craft out of the dregs of iron left in his body.

His body had adapted over his evolution to both withstand the over production and lack of iron in his blood. But just because he could survive it didn't mean he wouldn't still feel like complete and utter shit afterwards.

Spray and pray guns were definitely more exhausting, especially in their over reliance on ammo for the aforementioned spraying, but he couldn't rely on accuracy from this gaggle of goons he had once more had dumped in his lap. Why did he have to get the baby sitting duty again?

He could have went after the Russian girl... Ah who was he kidding. It doesn't matter now...

Bullets flew with reckless abandon as they sprayed an endless river of iron into the corn fields in any direction. Screeches of raptors echoed from the depths of the fields where they hid and explosions shook the earth as random bullets hit the stalks of Boom-corn dotted throughout the field.

Xander slumped down onto the ground, his chest heaving as he did his best not to puke. Every explosion just made his pounding headache worse. Hopefully this disastrous display was enough to send the Raptors running, or kill enough of them that the others could deal with them when they returned.

Because if they ran out of bullets now, there was nothing he could do to help. He was drained, Yuan was nearly crippled with his injuries and he doubted any of them had the capabilities of fighting the Raptor's seriously.

He laughed to himself drily, his throat completely hoarse, as he thought

'Well... At least it can't get any worse, right?'

RRRROOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAARRRR!

A deafening roar cut through the air, drowning out the gun fire and the explosions. If the Storm Queen was still blasting away instead of whatever it was she was doing now, there was no doubt that roar would have overshadowed her thunder too.

For a moment, in his exhausted state, Xander considered just... not looking. That perhaps not finding out what was going to kill him would somehow make it easier or more pleasant.

But despite those comforting thoughts, he raised his heavy head and when he saw what was responsible for that bone chilling roar, he couldn't help but let out another dry laugh.

'Am I just seeing double or... No. No, there really are two. Ha... Me and my big mouth.'

Striding towards them was a pair of towering and terrifying feathered beasts. Each footstep shook the ground beneath him, as he watched the chicken turned T-rex march closer and closer.

It looked like someone had taken it straight from the movies, covered it with tar and then smacked the hell out of it with hundreds of feathered pillows.

One of them had white feathers, much like the basic colour of the Georgia Raptors, while the other was jet black. It was this one, the male, that also had what could only be described as a blood red Mohawk.

A remnant from its time spent as a rooster. As strange as this sight was, it somehow lacked any amusement in the slightly ridiculous accessory of this prehistoric poultry. Perhaps it was the massive teeth that could crush his head, or the bone crushing jaws that would swallow him whole - if he was lucky.

Their official name was T-Chex. An 'amusing' play on words between Chicken and T-rex. If he ever found whoever gave it that name, he would drop them into a pit with some of these 'T-Chex's and see how funny they found the name then.

The two of them tilted their heads, sniffing the air and whipping their beady eyes around to get a clear view of their newest meal. The Rooster T-Chex let out another roar, before charging forwards. It's thunderous footsteps growing faster as it charged, before its mate followed close behind.

Everyone, from the Xander, to the gun wielding idiots, to the two fighting in the sky, and even the remaining Raptors littering the fields. All of them froze at the charging T-Chex's.

Which meant everyone saw a small girl shooting through the air, straight towards the Dinosaurs, like the meteor that had wiped them out in the first place. The tiny girl flew in the perfect path to intercept the Rooster Rex and when they collided, another deafening boom echoed out.

One might have expected the girl to splat against it, like an egg being thrown against a rock, or for her to bounce off and have her broken body be crushed by the charging beast.

Xander especially expected the second one. What he did not expect was for this small girl, who barely looked 13 years old, to lash out with a punch that sent out a shockwave and slammed the charging T-Chex's head into the ground.

The beast fell head over heels, it's head digging into the ground and tail high in the air as it skidded to a halt. It stopped directly in front of Xander, as if it was planned to do so, which gave him the perfect view of its head.

More specifically, at the perfect indentation of a tiny, child-like fist on its forehead that seemed like it had steam curling off of it. Blood trickled from the wound and, despite now staring directly down it's nostrils, no breath hit Xander.

He sat up straighter, his struggling mind unable to process what he was seeing as he blinked softly.

The tiny girl had killed it... In one punch?!
