The Peerless Beauty Stuck With Me

Chapter 1598 - 1597: Refusal

Chapter 1598 - 1597: Refusal

After Li Qi left, Tang Rao wandered around a small part of the Peach Blossom Spring. This is a place completely devoid of Immortal Energy, utterly unsuitable for cultivation, which is why the original inhabitants here don't have very strong powers.

Fortunately, the people here are kind and speak politely. Seeing Tang Rao as a stranger, quite a few people asked him if he was looking for someone or what he was doing here, offering help if needed, which even made thick-skinned Tang Rao feel a bit embarrassed.

"Young man, the old man over there has a place to stay. Do you need a place to settle down? If not, why not stay at the old man's place. It's free, just chat with me."

Tang Rao encountered many kind-hearted people—some offering him food, others clothes. Interestingly, the old man who just arrived planned to take Tang Rao in, asking only for some conversation.

He politely refused those before, and this was no exception.

"Sorry, I still need to find someone. I must keep moving and can't delay here."

His words neither overbearing nor condescending, just acknowledging the old man's need for companionship, which was perfectly natural. However, Tang Rao still hadn't found Bei Lin, so how could he stay in such a beautiful place and not keep searching?

Better to continue the search, at least seeing Bei Lin sooner would bring peace to his mind.

"You newcomers, once you arrive, you get straight to the point. I just wanted a few more words with you, like the girl from a few days ago. You young folks are increasingly mysterious to this old man."

The girl from a few days ago?

Tang Rao was drawn in by the old man's words.

"What girl? Besides me, is there another non-resident of Peach Blossom Spring from a few days ago?"

Calculating the time, Bei Lin arrived a few days ago; a little slower than Tang Rao but matching the old man's description caused Tang Rao to question the girl's identity.

Seeing Tang Rao willing to talk, the old man quickly took out two bottles of wine, handing one to Tang Rao, keeping one for himself; warmly pulling Tang Rao aside to tell him the story.

"Speaking of that girl, it's strange. Her voice sounds young, but she looks like an old lady. My wife pitied her and sold her our newly built house, sending plenty of provisions. I suppose tomorrow is market day, and she might need to buy more things."

A youthful voice not matching the appearance—what does this mean? Tang Rao dared not believe any kind stranger could lead him right to Bei Lin's whereabouts. It's remarkable how direct these words were, whether believable or speculated upon, that's for Tang Rao to decide.

"Where is the girl now? Is the house your family sold nearby? Can you take me to see it?"

Seeing Tang Rao's eagerness, the old man burst out laughing: "Young man, are you really here for that girl?"

The old man recalled when the girl first came here not knowing anything, only aware she had money to buy a house, but not the required amount causing her to cry. The old man thought her peculiar appearance led to abandonment, not expecting someone seeking her, like Tang Rao potentially being her devoted suitor, a union the old man wouldn't mind encouraging.

"Yes, she's my fiancée. Due to a minor issue, she transformed, her looks changed drastically. She hasn't overcome the emotional shadow, hence her escape here. I'm here to bring her back and take responsibility."

Tang Rao's heartfelt words could move anyone, especially the old man.

The old man lamented: "Back in my days, I too had sincere feelings. After much hardship, I ended up with my wife. Just for your words, I'll lead you to her."

A classic search ending effortlessly represents Tang Rao's current state.

Not long-lived, Tang Rao started rejoicing at the prospect of seeing Bei Lin soon, but arriving at her newly purchased cottage to find it locked, devoid of people.

"Huh, the girl isn't home?"

The old man assumed she was in, dismayed by locked doors making entry impossible.

"Maybe she went out seeking food, living alone here is pitiful. Sometimes, I worry something might happen."

The old man was about to finish when someone appeared behind him.

"Old man, are you looking for that young girl?"

The voice sounded too familiar, as the old man turned, he saw his wife behind him.

"Old lady, you're familiar with the girl, you probably know where she went? This young man is her guy, he came specifically to bring her home. We can rest assured she has family."

The old man's chatter was excessive; ideally Tang Rao would remind him to state the essentials before engaging his wife.

"But the girl isn't home, she went to find the Divine Doctor."

The wife's words undoubtedly doused Tang Rao with cold realization.

Gone? Seeking the Divine Doctor?

Li Qi had mentioned his mother's illness required the Divine Doctor's intervention. Now hearing Bei Lin sought this doctor, who could they be? Why is everyone chasing them?

"Granny, do you know who the Divine Doctor is? Where do they reside?"

He feared the "Divine Doctor" title most, given the exaggeration and deception prevalent; he worried Bei Lin's naïve nature might fall victim to a charlatan.

"The Divine Doctor resides in the deepest part of the Peach Blossom Spring, far from here."

The old lady had been there long ago, her memory not great, recalling some details whilst forgetting others, thinking through winding paths, her mind growing chaotic.

"Enough, old man, I can't reminisce further, dwelling more gives me a headache."

She clutched her head; seeing her, Tang Rao couldn't bear putting her through more recollection.

Given it's the deepest part, Tang Rao decided to ask local residents for directions, traveling the route's end would surely be correct.

Tang Rao followed, as Bei Lin reached the deepest part, finding the area entirely enclosed; hoping to enter the main gate, she suddenly saw a sign saying "No Visitors Allowed."

No visitors allowed? What's the reason?
