Chapter 407: One Day in Heaven, One Year on Earth
The area surrounding the doorway was filled with tall trees, some much taller than the others, blocking out all light. The forest was thick with mist, making it seem serene and quiet, with barely a sound, not even the faintest shadows.
As everyone approached the door, their pupils widened slightly. The ancient door had clearly only recently been placed there, yet it had already blended in with its surroundings. The patterns on it bore the marks of time, and moss had already crept upwards along the base. The patterns on it resembled a sun, a simple bird spreading its wings within it, its three legs a testament to its status.
The mirage dragon subconsciously wanted to move forward and touch it, but its arm passed through the door.
"What are you thinking about? We are not here. Do you want to take all the treasures you see for yourself?" The sarcastic voice of the old goat came from behind the mirage dragon.
"Tsk, you can't help but know it? Do you know what the cave heaven means with your stupid brain?" Mirage Dragon immediately retorted.
Before they could say anything more, a deer suddenly darted out from the bushes. The deer cautiously surveyed its surroundings, listening carefully. Not noticing anything unusual, it slowly approached the door. Of course, the deer had no idea what the door was for; it simply wanted to nibble on the tender grass surrounding it. It wasn't sure if it was the door's function, but it must have been, as the grass around it was much tenderer than outside.
After only a few bites, however, the deer spotted the door. The door seemed to hold an inexplicable attraction for the deer. It stared at the door motionlessly, then lifted its hoof and subconsciously took a step. This step seemed to trigger some mechanism, and the seamless door opened a crack.
The next moment, the deer vanished from its spot. In the blink of an eye, as if it were an illusion, the door returned to its original state, unchanged.
But spectators like Su Mu are not simple people.
"He went in just like that?" Mirage Dragon was a little unbelievable.
But the old goat burst into laughter.
"What are you laughing at?" Mirage Dragon glared at the other person.
"I'm laughing at you. You look a lot like that deer. If your real body was there, you might have gone in too."
"you!!"
Su Mu shook her head and looked at Lu Wu: "Is this what you prepared for us? What's so special about this cave?"
Lu Wu, who had been completely indifferent, suddenly fell silent upon hearing Su Mu's words. For a moment, he didn't know whether to answer or not. He didn't know either—his memory had been erased. But he felt that this was something he could do, sacrificing the small to protect the big.
He had already considered this scenario: the other party would definitely not give up, but not giving up would likely cause problems for his plan. Better to open it up than to block it. The moment he saw this door, he had already made a guess, because it was different.
"I... don't know." Lu Wu answered with a stiff upper lip.
However, Su Mu didn't believe it, nor was she stupid enough to go to the tiger mountain even though she knew there was a tiger there. Regardless of whether it was him or not, she couldn't go through this door: "Cao Chen, change another door."
Cao Chen did not deny it.
The surrounding environment has changed.
"How do you know?" asked the Mirage Dragon curiously.
"Are you stupid? The smell of fate is so strong here that it's permeated. It's obvious that it was done on purpose. Cao Chen is at that level and can succeed in one go. He can find it whenever he wants. It's that simple. Why bother to scatter it? It's just a waste of time." The old goat explained, then looked at the mirage dragon with disdain.
Mirage Dragon: “…”
He himself began to doubt whether he had been living in comfort for too long, causing his brain to degenerate. He didn't even know something that even a goat could see.
But he soon realized that the goat was just being a hindsighter, simply looking for an excuse to taunt him. It wasn't that the old goat disliked the mirage dragon, but rather it was a subconscious move—the two of them were so used to bickering that they felt something was missing without a few words. There was nothing wrong with that, it just lightened the mood.
After hearing what Su Mu said, Cao Chen once again began searching for another door. This time, it wasn't as easy as the first time. The various threads were tangled and the suspicious afterimages were as numerous as stars in the sky. He had to point them out and select them one by one.
This didn't faze Cao Chen; instead, it made him even more serious. In other words, he was enjoying it—after all, finding the door so easily made him both delighted and somewhat disappointed. It was too easy, too unchallenging. For him, this was what he truly wanted. The more difficult it was, the greater the sense of accomplishment when he finally got the answer.
As for not being able to find it? From the very beginning, Cao Chen had never thought of this. It must be said that those who entered the Dao were extremely confident.
While Cao Chen was looking for the whereabouts of another door, Su Mu was asking about the difference of that door.
Seeing that the plan hadn't been accomplished, Lu Wu stopped hiding it. He had still underestimated this group of people—how many of them were fools? Even the demons he had hung up were quite clever, it was just the difference in strength.
“There’s a huge difference between the time inside that door and the time outside.”
"Have you ever heard that one day in heaven is one year on earth?"
"The time in that cave is so exaggerated. When you enter it, when you come out, everything may have changed. Hahahaha."
This place truly deserves the title of a blessed cave, and is a great place to escape from the world. Time in the cave is much slower than in the outside world. A year spent inside could mean over three hundred years have passed in the outside world.
Lu Wu did not lie, nor did he bother to lie. After hearing his explanation, everyone suddenly realized what he had planned.
Lu Wu finished his explanation and fell silent. Seeing his plan completely ruined, he didn't want to meddle in it any more—the more he did, the more mistakes he made. It was better to let everything take its course, let the unknown determine everything.
As they spoke, Cao Chen had already found a clue. The afterimages were quickly pierced, much faster than at the beginning, until only three or four remained.
Cao Chen chose one of them, and the surrounding scenery changed, just as it had when they first encountered it. They arrived at a swampy area, withered branches and rotting trees, and a stench of decay filled the air. And within this swamp stood a door, half of it already engulfed, leaving the remaining half exposed.
"Found it." Cao Chen said contentedly, as if he had solved a difficult problem.
Lu Wu had no expression on his face, but he kept thinking: These people are so lucky...
