Chapter 1211: Honey! You Came Back to Your Senses
Serena’s head was full of questions. After seeing Autumn out, she came straight back, and as soon as she walked into the living room, she couldn’t wait to go find Easton Holmes to get things clear.
"A pretty popular A-list star." Hearing Serena speak, Easton instinctively turned his head to glance at her and used one sentence to explain who exactly Grant Heath was.
"A big star?!"
"A celebrity?!"
When they heard Easton say Grant was a pretty popular A-list star, Serena and Amelia Linton both cried out at the same time, and the two of them simultaneously turned to look at Lily Turner.
Lily’s thoughts were cut off by their exclamations. She lifted her head, and only then did she realize that Amelia and Serena were looking at her.
Seeing that she’d noticed them watching her, the two of them hurriedly shifted their gazes elsewhere.
Seeing this, Callix Linton spoke up and scolded the two of them in dissatisfaction: "Can’t you two be a bit more composed?"
He craned his neck to look at his granddaughter-in-law who was sitting a bit farther away. When he saw that she didn’t seem to have any bad reaction, he was somewhat relieved.
Hearing the old Mr. Linton’s displeased rebuke, Serena and Amelia exchanged a look, and then, as if they’d rehearsed it beforehand, answered in unison, "We got it."
Their tacit understanding was perfect, even they themselves hadn’t expected it.
"Serena, Athena hasn’t really been out in society yet, she doesn’t know how complicated the world is. You need to talk to her more from now on. Not everyone out there is as innocent as she is." Now that he knew today’s mess had something to do with Lily, Callix realized how complicated this matter was. For Grant Heath to pull something like this, he definitely wasn’t some simple, straightforward person.
Even if Callix hadn’t reminded her, Serena was already planning to do that. When Autumn came knocking just now, she had actually been scared stiff.
"I know, Dad! I’ll definitely talk to her." She only had this one daughter; she really didn’t want her getting hurt. If that happened, it would break her heart.
"What she needs to hear most right now is this: she has to stay away from that Grant Heath. That Grant Heath is not some simple person." Callix was being very objective. At the moment he could only judge that Grant wasn’t simple; as for the rest, he didn’t know, and he would never talk nonsense about things he didn’t understand.
Rather than always guarding against other people, it’s better to keep yourself in check and keep the initiative in your own hands—that’s what really matters.
Serena nodded. "Mm! Once she wakes up later, I’ll tell her right away to stay away from Grant Heath."
Later she was definitely going online to see what exactly had happened, how things could have turned into such a ridiculous misunderstanding.
Luckily her husband had gone to the military district; otherwise, there’s no way her daughter would be sleeping so soundly right now.
Lily didn’t say a word, just sat there quietly, but inside she was nowhere near as calm as she looked on the surface. In her heart, it was already a boiling mess.
She couldn’t understand why Grant Heath had turned into what he was now—using any means necessary to achieve his goals. That wasn’t the him she thought she knew.
Was it that other people were too changeable? Or was she just too stupid—so stupid she couldn’t even see a person clearly?
She had only ever wanted to do things simply, live simply, but life had just swung a heavy club right at her.
"Babe! You back with us?"
Easton’s voice suddenly sounded right next to her ear. Lily snapped back to her senses, and only then did she realize that Serena, Amelia, and Callix had already left the living room.
