Chapter Thirty-Seven: Nobody's Home
Shen Nianxu did not have the courage to step forward and question Gu Tingyu.
From the moment she fell in love with Gu Tingyu, she was utterly defeated.
It was a bit hot today, but Shen Nianxu was disheartened and got goosebumps from the cold. She walked out of the second-floor restaurant in a daze.
Gu Tingyu caught a glimpse of a familiar figure out of the corner of his eye, and his heart skipped a beat.
He instinctively turned around to look, only to find that the person was no longer there.
Xu Rou was puzzled by his behavior: "What's wrong now?"
"I thought I saw someone I knew." Gu Tingyu didn't look at her and continued eating.
Xu Rou responded with an "oh," her eyes filled with an ambiguous and unreadable emotion.
On the surface, she smiled nonchalantly, but there was a vague sense of unease beneath the surface.
She could clearly sense that Gu Tingyu was somewhat distracted during the meal with her.

Gu Tingyan paused as he was about to go upstairs, his dark eyes instantly turning to the butler.
His cold, hard voice was filled with disbelief.
"What did you say?"
The news that neither of them was home spurred Gu Tingyan on, and his previously calm expression was replaced by anxiety and helplessness.
Frustrated, he loosened his tie and dialed Li Yan's number.
"Mom, where are you now? I'll come pick you up."
Gu Tingyan was afraid that if he wasn't careful, Li Yan would get into trouble again.
Fortunately, the sound of Li Yan being safe and sound brought Gu Tingyan a little comfort.
"Ayan, I'll send you my location," Li Yan said, sounding a little sullen.
Gu Tingyan immediately sensed that something was wrong with his mother's mood and asked anxiously, "Did someone bully you?"
The older child's concern and the younger child's indifference formed a stark contrast.
