Chapter 372 Escaping the Huang Mansion 38
“Oh, I see,” Lan Ai said, pointing to another soldier. “His name is Wen Xiaoyi. What’s your brother’s name?”
"Yes, my brother's name is Xiao Yuan, the Yuan of one yuan." Mu Wanqing said, taking another bite of the sesame seed cake.
After listening to the little girl speak, the boy named Wen Xiaoyi nudged Mu Baiyuan with his elbow and said, "Your name is Xiaoyuan?"
"What? My sister is too young to know my name." Mu Baiyuan tore the sesame seed cake in half, wanting to share it with Wen Xiaoyi and Lan Ai—the two had been staring at the sesame seed cake for a long time, but were probably too embarrassed to ask for it, so they just looked at it without saying anything.
When Lan Ai and Wen Xiaoyi saw Mu Baiyuan tear open a sesame seed cake and hand it to them, they hurriedly waved their hands to refuse: "No, the captain said we can't take things from our fellow villagers."
"You didn't take any, I gave them to you on my own initiative," Mu Baiyuan said as she stuffed the sesame seed cakes into the two people's hands.
"No, no, the squad leader said that even if the villagers offer it to us, it's not okay," Lan Ai said, pushing the sesame seed cake that Mu Baiyuan handed over back.
"Yes, yes." Wen Xiaoyi nodded as he stuffed the sesame seed cake that Mu Baiyuan had just forced into his hand into Mu Baiyuan's mouth.
Mu Baiyuan was caught off guard by Wen Xiaoyi's sudden act of feeding her the cake and almost choked. After finally swallowing it, Mu Baiyuan coughed hard and turned to look at Wen Xiaoyi.
Wen Xiaoyi looked extremely nervous, her entire face etched with apology.
"Fine, if you don't want it, you don't have to. Just don't stuff it in my mouth next time." Mu Baiyuan complained and gave the sesame seed cake that Lan Ai had given back to Mu Wanqing.
"I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry," Wen Xiaoyi apologized.
After walking for a while, the group finally arrived at the place the three soldiers had mentioned.
It looks like a village near Sunset Town. Huang Muyan hasn't been here much because it doesn't belong to the Huang family's territory, but to another small family.
However, it should now belong to the Communist army's base area, because Huang Muyan saw several people wearing the same grass-gray military uniforms. The local villagers didn't seem to be afraid of this army and would greet the soldiers.
The oldest soldier let Lan Ai and Wen Xiaoyi go back first, while he led Huang Muyan and the others to a small hut.
At first glance, the little house didn't look special; it was just an ordinary little house that most people would live in.
Huang Muyan and the other two followed the oldest soldier, named Li Xiaogou, into the small house. Inside sat a middle-aged man, who was hunched over a desk, seemingly writing something.
Li Xiaogou bowed to the middle-aged man and then explained Huang Muyan's situation to him.
After listening, the middle-aged man said he understood.
Li Xiaogou went out, and the middle-aged man stood up and saluted Huang Muyan and the other two. Then he introduced himself: "My surname is Zhang, the Zhang of 'article'. You can call me Secretary Zhang."
“You stay here for two days. After we take Xiyang Town, you can go in and find your relatives,” Secretary Zhang said, then pointed to a room outside the window. “That’s a guest room. You don’t need to worry too much about being affected by the fighting while you stay here, because this battle will be over soon.”
"Okay, thank you for your help," Huang Muyan said, then remembered something and asked, "I still have to go to school and need to take a bus, so I'm staying at a relative's house temporarily to make it easier to rent a car. How long will this war last? I'm afraid I'll be late getting back to school."
Upon hearing Huang Muyan's words, Secretary Zhang blinked and said, "You're a student?"
Huang Muyan nodded.
Secretary Zhang then pointed to Mu Baiyuan and Mu Wanqing standing next to Huang Muyan: "What about the other two?"
“These two people are my younger brother and my younger sister. They are coming with me,” Huang Muyan said to Secretary Zhang.
"Hmm." Secretary Zhang nodded to indicate that he understood. Seeing that the cloaks of the three people were still dripping wet, Secretary Zhang called out to the door, and a male soldier and a female soldier entered.
"Xiao Wang, Xiao Li, take them to change their clothes," Secretary Zhang said, pointing to Huang Muyan and the other two.
The two soldiers saluted Secretary Zhang and accepted the mission.
