Chapter 117 Father and son meet

Chapter 117 Father and son meet

After a long silence, Long Yueze, who was well aware of Ji Moyu's icy nature, broke the silence. He pouted in dissatisfaction, a playful smile on his lips, "Why are you here?"

Ji Moyu frowned, his eyes as cold as knives, fixed on Long Yueze before him. He tightened his grip on Chu Qiuchi, causing the sleeping Chu Qiuchi on his back to furrow his brow. His deep, cold voice followed: "Who are you?"

Long Yueze remained unfazed by the cold gaze. He chuckled lightly, a hint of provocation and mockery flashing in his eyes. He stretched lazily and spoke casually, "I'm Xiao Qiuchi's... good brother! Nice to meet you, my name is Long Yueze."

"Good brother?" Ji Moyu's eyes narrowed slightly, his tone growing colder. "Surname Long, you're from the Moon-Treading Spirit Dragon clan, right? How come I didn't know that the relationship between the beast race and the human race is so close that they can be each other's brothers?"

Long Yueze's smile remained unchanged, a meaningful glint flashing in his eyes as he looked directly at Ji Moyu without any hesitation. "There are many things you don't know! This is a little secret between her and me. Besides, if I weren't her 'good brother,' why would she sneak over to meet me in the middle of the night?"

Ji Moyu frowned, his eyes grew even colder, the temperature around him plummeted, magic surged, and the staff in his hand gradually began to shimmer with green light. Just as he was about to make his move, Chu Qiuchi on his back opened his eyes at the opportune moment, pretending to yawn, and quickly jumped off Ji Moyu's back.

"Long Yueze...do you want to get punched...?"

She walked straight up to Long Yueze and lightly punched him, glancing at Ji Moyu's reaction out of the corner of her eye as she did so. Actually, she had woken up the moment the two met, but feeling the passionate atmosphere between them, she was too embarrassed to admit she was still asleep.

Meanwhile, Long Yueze, who had just taken a punch from Chu Qiuchi, staggered back a step, an incredulous "injured" expression appearing on his alluring face. His brows furrowed slightly, his large, watery eyes staring straight at Chu Qiuchi, as if she were a heartless woman who had abandoned him—a pitiful sight, filled with utter sorrow!

"Xiao Qiuchi, it's been so long since we last met, and this is how you treat your brother? My heart aches so much. You've changed. You've found someone new and don't want me, your old flame anymore!"

Chu Qiuchi glanced at Ji Moyu, whose face was growing colder and whose brows were furrowed so deeply they could trap a fly, and tugged at Long Yueze, who was putting on an act, with a hint of annoyance: "Alright, stop acting, you're such a drama queen! Hurry up and give me the person, can't you see that they're freezing to death over there?"

Long Yueze immediately stopped acting, straightened his expression, turned his head slightly, and whispered to Chu Qiuchi, "Why did you bring this ice block with you? Aren't you afraid he'll find out you have connections with the beastmen?"

Chu Qiuchi glanced at him and whispered, "We failed to sneak away and got caught red-handed. What can we do? Take us to see General Jimo first. We can explain the rest to him later. If he doesn't understand..."

"What would happen if I didn't understand?" Long Yueze asked curiously as he led Chu Qiuchi to the tree, his tone slightly playful.

Chu Qiuchi raised an eyebrow slightly, his steps light, a confident smile playing on his lips. "If he doesn't understand, then I'll find a way to make him understand!"

Long Yueze was infected by her undisguised confidence and couldn't help but smile slightly, giving her a thumbs up. "Good courage!"

Ji Moyu coldly watched the two walk intimately to the side, her aura chilling, and silently followed behind them. The staff in her hand flickered with a faint green light, ready to strike at any moment.

Reaching the base of the large tree, Long Yueze gestured with his chin towards a dark figure behind it, "Hey, the person's here!"

Chu Qiuchi looked at Long Yueze in confusion, "You knocked him out?"

"Don't blame me, I was just joking with him." Long Yueze shrugged and looked at Chu Qiuchi with an innocent expression. "He was too emotional, so I just knocked him out and brought him to you."

Chu Qiuchi rolled his eyes, silently thinking to himself: This guy must have been up to no good. To have made General Jimo like this, he must have said some nonsense!

She quickly stepped forward, slightly lifting her cloak to check on Ji Mohan. Seeing that his breathing was steady and his complexion wasn't too bad, she felt slightly relieved. Turning to Ji Moyu who was following behind, she called out, "Little Fish, come here quickly, General Ji Mo is here!"

Ji Moyu was stunned upon hearing this, and the staff in her hand fell to the ground with a thud. A flash of excitement appeared in her eyes, and her pupils involuntarily dilated. "What did you say? My father... is here?"

"Yes, look, isn't this it!" Chu Qiuchi nodded heavily and pointed to the dark figure beside him.

Ji Moyu's steps faltered slightly, and he couldn't help but quicken his pace, rushing forward eagerly. After stopping, he slowly reached out his hand, his fingers trembling slightly, and stopped at the edge of Ji Mohan's cloak.

His eyes were filled with complex emotions, a mixture of hope and fear, as if he was afraid that this touch would shatter everything before him, or that it was all just an illusion.

Seeing the slightly excited yet fearful look on his face, Chu Qiuchi felt a pang of emotion and couldn't help but curl her lips into a smile. This was the first time she had ever seen so many changes in his usually icy expression!

"Little Fish, don't be afraid. I'm not lying to you. It really is General Jimo inside!" She gently patted his shoulder, her eyes filled with comfort and encouragement.

Ji Moyu stared at her intently for a moment, then nodded slightly. As if he had made up his mind, his fingers trembled slightly as he slowly lifted his cloak.

As the cloak billowed, Ji Mohan's familiar face gradually appeared inside.

Ji Moyu's breath almost stopped at that moment, his eyes filled with a mixture of shock and joy, and he was speechless for a moment.

A few seconds later, he slowly squatted down, looked down at his father's slightly pale face, and his throat tightened slightly.

“Father…” he murmured softly, his voice hoarse, as if the emotions that had been suppressed for so long had finally found an outlet.

Then, he gently held Ji Mohan in his arms, savoring his familiar scent.

From learning of her father's accident to accepting the mission, the more than ten days of hopeless searching, the worries and anxieties that had been building up inside her seemed to be released completely with this embrace.
