Chapter 78 Finally Achieving Success and Reaching the Nine Heavens
Chapter 78 Finally Achieving Success and Reaching the Nine Heavens
A blinding white light engulfed everything; I felt as if I were being torn apart, yet also reshaped. A constant buzzing filled my ears, and Wen Chen's anxious calls faded into the distance, leaving only the deafening roar of thunder. I gritted my teeth, channeling the last vestige of spiritual energy within me to its limit. The energy sphere, gathering all my hopes, crashed headlong into the seemingly all-consuming purple lightning!
boom!
The world was a vast expanse of white, and I felt my body float lightly, like a feather, drifting in the wind. I don't know how much time passed, but the white light gradually faded, and I slowly opened my eyes.
The world became clear, and I found myself standing on a vast circular platform, my feet adorned with shimmering, iridescent celestial patterns, surrounded by swirling clouds and an aura of divine energy. I looked down at my hands; they were as white as jade, radiating a faint golden light. I had succeeded! I had finally overcome the heavenly tribulation and ascended to immortality!
"Congratulations on your ascension, fairy!" A deep voice rang out in the air. I looked up and saw a man in a golden robe and a jade crown standing in mid-air. His face was majestic and imposing. He was none other than the Jade Emperor, the ruler of the Heavenly Court.
Standing beside him was a kind-faced woman, holding a jade vase; it was none other than Guanyin Bodhisattva. Guanyin Bodhisattva smiled gently at me, her eyes filled with love and satisfaction. "Yao'er, you did very well," she said softly, her voice like heavenly music, cleansing my soul.
I was overjoyed and bowed deeply to the Jade Emperor and Guanyin Bodhisattva, saying, "Thank you, Jade Emperor! Thank you, Bodhisattva!"
Just then, I sensed a familiar presence and abruptly turned my head. In the distance, a figure was flying towards me, dressed in pristine white, with a handsome and refined appearance—it was Wen Chen!
His eyes were filled with a mixture of joy and worry as he flew to my side and pulled me into a tight embrace. "Yao'er, you scared me to death!" His voice trembled slightly, and I could feel the strength with which he held me, as if he wanted to meld me into his body.
I hugged him tightly, burying my face in his chest, feeling his familiar scent, my heart filled with sweetness and happiness. "I'm okay, I did it!"
"I know, I know." He gently stroked my hair, his voice full of affection. "I'm proud of you."
Just then, an angry roar suddenly came from the sky, "Xiao Yao! You actually ascended! I'm not reconciled!"
I looked up and saw a figure shrouded in black demonic energy appear on the horizon—it was the Asura King. His face was contorted with rage, and his eyes were filled with resentment and bitterness.
"Asura King, are you still not giving up?" Erlang Shen, holding a three-pointed double-edged sword, stood in front of us, staring coldly at Asura King.
The Asura King snorted coldly, "I will definitely avenge today's grudge! Xiao Yao, you just wait!" After saying that, he turned around and transformed into a streak of black light, disappearing into the horizon.
I stared in the direction where the Asura King had disappeared, a vague unease creeping into my heart. I knew the feud between us wasn't over yet…
Suddenly, the Ascension Platform began to shake violently, and the surrounding space began to distort and deform. The Jade Emperor's expression changed, "This is bad, the stability of the Ascension Platform has been affected..."
Wen Chen shielded me behind him, vigilantly observing the changes around us. The Jade Emperor's expression was solemn as he rapidly formed hand seals and chanted incantations. Golden runes flew from his hands and merged into the celestial patterns on the Ascension Platform. The violently shaking Ascension Platform gradually stabilized, and the distorted space around it slowly returned to normal.
"Yao'er, don't be afraid, I will protect you." The Jade Emperor's voice was steady and powerful, bringing me great peace of mind. I nodded gratefully to him and squeezed Wen Chen's hand tightly.
In the distance, the figure of the Asura King loomed in and out of sight on the horizon. His body churned with demonic energy, clearly indicating he had suffered serious injuries in the previous battle. He glared at me venomously, his fists clenched, seemingly struggling to suppress his rage. Finally, he let out a roar of resentment, transforming into a streak of black light and vanishing into the sky. I knew he wouldn't give up so easily; this battle was only temporarily over, and we would inevitably clash again in the future.
"Congratulations, fairy, on your successful ascension!" Erlang Shen, holding a three-pointed double-edged sword, walked up to us and offered his congratulations. The heavenly soldiers and generals behind him also bowed and congratulated me on my ascension to immortality.
I nodded slightly in return. "Thank you, Erlang Zhenjun."
At that moment, a sharp, piercing voice came from afar: "Xiao Yao! Do you really think you can escape my grasp? I, the White Bone Demon, swear here and now that I will make your soul be scattered!"
I looked in the direction of the sound and saw the White Bone Demon being bound by heavenly soldiers and generals and escorted to the Ascension Platform. Her hair was disheveled, her clothes were tattered, and her face was full of resentment and unwillingness.
"White Bone Demon, you have committed countless evils and committed heinous crimes. Now you still want to stir up trouble?" The Jade Emperor's majestic voice rang out, shaking heaven and earth.
The White Bone Demon glared back at the Jade Emperor defiantly, "Everything I do is to get what I want! Why should you high and mighty gods have everything you want, while I have to suffer?"
"The ways of Heaven are clear, and cause and effect are cyclical. You will eventually have to bear the consequences of your own evil deeds." Guanyin Bodhisattva's voice was compassionate yet majestic, carrying an irresistible power.
The White Bone Demon wanted to say something more, but the Jade Emperor waved his hand to interrupt her. "Guards, take her to the Heavenly Prison to await her fate!"
The heavenly soldiers dragged the struggling and screaming White Bone Demon away, and the ascension platform returned to calm once more.
I took a deep breath, feeling the rich immortal energy around me, my heart filled with emotion. From a useless person without spiritual roots to ascending to immortality, the path I've walked has been incredibly arduous, but also incredibly fulfilling.
Wen Chen gazed at me tenderly, his eyes filled with love and pride. "Yao'er, we can finally be together forever."
I nodded and gently rested my head on his shoulder, my heart filled with happiness and sweetness.
Just then, I felt a warm and powerful force envelop me, as if I were in my mother's embrace, feeling incredibly safe and comfortable. I looked up and saw Guanyin Bodhisattva gazing at me compassionately, her jade vase radiating a soft light… “Child,” she softly spoke, her voice like celestial music, “Child, you are compassionate and courageous, and have finally achieved enlightenment. Your ascension today is your destiny, and also the choice of Heaven.” Bathed in the Bodhisattva's blessing, I felt a warm current flow through my entire body. My body, which had been somewhat numb from the lightning tribulation, was now filled with power. I looked up at the sky, where the final bolt of heavenly lightning was about to strike, its purple lightning like a roaring dragon, hurtling towards me with destructive force. However, I felt no fear, only peace and anticipation.
The Bodhisattva's blessing formed a golden shield, enveloping me within it. The lightning struck the shield with a deafening roar, yet it could not harm me in the slightest. I felt as if I were in a warm embrace, endless compassion and power flowing into my body, cleansing my soul and elevating my spiritual realm.
I saw Erlang Shen and the heavenly soldiers standing respectfully to one side, their eyes filled with admiration and praise. I knew they had witnessed my growth, witnessed my transformation from a useless person without spiritual roots to who I am today, ascending to immortality. At this moment, all my efforts had been rewarded, all my sweat had turned into sweet rain.
Wen Chen stood beside me, holding my hand tightly, his eyes filled with love and pride. I knew he had always been silently supporting me, accompanying me, and giving me strength and courage.
The final bolt of lightning struck, causing the golden protective shield to tremble violently, but ultimately it withstood the devastating blow. The thunder gradually subsided, and the sky returned to calm. A ray of golden sunlight pierced through the clouds, shining upon me as if draping me in a golden battle robe.
I felt a powerful force lifting me upwards. I slowly rose into the air, the ground beneath my feet receding further and further away, and the surrounding scenery becoming increasingly blurry. I looked back and saw Wen Chen gazing at me affectionately, his eyes filled with reluctance but also with blessings.
"Wait for me," I mouthed silently, knowing that we would soon reunite in the Celestial Realm.
I continued to ascend, passing through clouds and fierce winds, finally arriving at a completely new world. Here, celestial energy swirled, and magnificent palaces and pavilions filled the air with breathtaking beauty. I took a deep breath, feeling the rich celestial energy, my heart filled with joy and excitement.
"Welcome, new fairy!" A group of fairies walked towards me. They were dressed in colorful feathered robes, with stunningly beautiful faces and voices as clear and melodious as larks.
I nodded slightly in return. I knew my journey to the immortal realm had only just begun…
Just as I was preparing to follow the fairies to the banquet at Yaochi, I sensed a strong aura of resentment coming from below. I looked down and saw… “It’s her!” I thought to myself.
...The White Bone Demon was firmly bound by the celestial soldiers and generals, unable to move. Her once pale bones now gleamed with a bluish-black light, the backlash from suppressed demonic power. The ghostly flames in her eye sockets flickered like candles in the wind, illuminating her desperate and distorted face. Her former arrogance had vanished, replaced by endless regret and resentment. She stared intently at me, letting out a silent roar, as if accusing fate of injustice, or perhaps cursing my ascension.
I felt no emotion, not even a trace of pity. She had committed countless evils, and her current fate was entirely her own doing. I even remember her attempt to steal my opportunity; had Wen Chen not intervened in time, the consequences would have been unimaginable. Today, I ascend to immortality, while she will never be able to rise again—this is the ultimate retribution for good and evil.
I withdrew my gaze, ignoring her completely. The Gate of Ascension had fully opened, celestial music filled the air, and auspicious rays streamed down, like a rainbow bridge leading to the heavens, connecting the mortal and immortal realms. I stepped onto this glorious path, each step feeling as if I were walking on clouds, light and ethereal.
Looking back one last time, I saw Wen Chen still standing there, his figure exceptionally tall and straight in the golden light, like a guardian deity. His deep gaze transcended time and space, connecting with mine, as if telling of endless longing and love. With all my might, I etched this last glance deep into my heart, and carrying my promise to him and my hopes for the future, I resolutely stepped into the gates of the Immortal Realm.
The celestial realm was indeed as beautiful as the legends described. Jade palaces and pavilions gleamed in gold and green, shrouded in celestial mist, exuding a palpable spiritual energy. Exotic flowers and rare herbs vied for attention, while rare birds and beasts soared freely. Being there felt like entering a dreamlike world. However, I had no heart to appreciate the beauty of this celestial realm; only one thought occupied my mind: to find Wen Chen.
I followed the fairy who led the way to the Jade Pool, where a grand banquet was underway. The Jade Emperor sat high on his dragon throne, his face kind and benevolent. He nodded slightly to me in approval. Guanyin Bodhisattva also cast an admiring glance my way, her gaze compassionate and serene. Erlang Shen and the other immortals offered their congratulations, their eyes filled with admiration and praise.
I returned their greetings one by one, but my mind was elsewhere. My gaze searched the crowd for that familiar figure. Wen Chen, where are you?
"What are you looking for, fairy?" a fairy asked softly when she saw me looking around.
I shook my head and forced a smile. "It's nothing, I'm just a little unaccustomed to being here."
I politely declined the fairy's invitation and left the Jade Pool alone. I wandered aimlessly through the streets of the celestial realm, and every corner and every scene felt unfamiliar and lonely to me.
Suddenly, I saw a familiar palace ahead... wasn't that it...?
