Chapter 2 What does it matter what she does?
Chapter 2 What does it matter what she does?
Jiang Qin didn't repeat herself; the alarm clock that signaled the start of the meeting interrupted their conversation.
It was a project meeting with a major partner, and it was very important, so Jiang Qin put aside her thoughts of discussing personal matters.
She forced herself back into work mode, "Mr. Huo, you have to go to the meeting, it's very important."
Huo Sili knew, of course, that this meeting was important. The president's office at Huo's headquarters was designed as a suite, with Huo Sili's office area inside and Jiang Qin's office area outside. Huo Sili quickly went inside and came out just as quickly.
The man was holding a thick stack of documents, a notebook, and a pen, which was quite different from his usual demeanor during meetings.
Jiang Qin was not required to attend this meeting; Huo Sili was accompanied by his special assistant, He Xu.
Jiang Qin sat down, glanced at the breakfast bag, had no appetite, and decided to start working.
Huo Sili, who had just reached the door, suddenly turned around and looked at her. Jiang Qin subconsciously stopped what she was doing and looked back at him.
Huo Sili: "Grandma's condition has been fluctuating recently. If you want a divorce, you can, but you'll have to postpone it."
If you want a divorce, fine—there's no pleading, no questions asked.
Jiang Qin was surprised by Huo Sili's answer, but she breathed a sigh of relief. She thought for a moment and asked.
"Then, Mr. Huo, how long would you like to postpone this?"
Huo Sili took out his phone, as if glancing at a calendar, "It shouldn't be until after Grandma's seventy-fifth birthday celebration, right?"
The Huo family matriarch's birthday is in mid-to-late September, and it's early September now.
In about twenty days, Jiang Qin nodded, thinking about how much care Old Mrs. Huo had given her over the years.
"Okay, then let's have Grandma's birthday banquet..." After that, we got divorced.
Before he could finish speaking, Huo Sili opened the door and disappeared.
With a muffled thud, Jiang Qin's words were shattered.
Jiang Qin took a deep breath in an attempt to calm herself, but it didn't work for a while. Perhaps because she hadn't eaten breakfast, her stomach started to cramp.
As Jiang Qin ate her breakfast, her thoughts drifted away.
She suddenly thought of herself at twenty-three, well, that is, a year ago.
At that time, she truly felt that she had married for love, and that although her marriage to Horstley was a marriage of convenience that blossomed into love, she was truly happy with him.
At that time, Huo Sili learned from Wang Ma that she never ate breakfast, so even on the busiest days, he would get up early to cook a loving breakfast for her.
At first, Horsley's cooking skills were really nothing to write home about. Later she learned that Horsley had never actually been in a kitchen before.
He learned to cook for her sake, and he owned a villa. The kitchen exploded several times before he finally learned how to fry perfectly cooked eggs in an iron pan.
Later, Horstley's cooking skills improved, and he could make many delicious breakfasts. He was also very good at making pasta and pastries, but Horstley stopped making them.
Jiang Qin tried to forget the day Huo Sili changed his habit, but she could never forget it.
Because she remembered very clearly that the night before the day Horley changed his habit, Horley was still whispering sweet nothings to her as usual, but the next day, the second day of the weekend.
Horst was gone; she didn't know where he had gone without telling her. She waited for him all day, from dawn till dusk.
However, what awaited him was a change.
After that, Horsley stopped making breakfast for her and even reduced the time he spent eating with her.
Often at home, when she went down to the restaurant, he would leave for the company, and he would not eat dinner with her.
As Jiang Qin threw the breakfast bag into the trash can, she suddenly realized that it seemed that apart from the matter of sharing a room, there was nothing else between her and Huo Sili as Huo Sili's wife after that.
It's ironic to think about it this way, but thankfully she's still young, only twenty-four.
Just thinking about this experience made Jiang Qin feel a little sad. She had really thought that she and Huo Sili would grow old together, but now it seemed that she had just been deluding herself.
At 6 p.m., Jiang Qin finished her business report to Huo Sili, picked up her bag and left, calling a car as she headed towards the elevator.
Traffic jams are terrible during rush hour in Kyoto, but Jiang Qin doesn't care because there's really nothing or no one she needs to pay special attention to these days.
Her father was an abusive man who died in a car accident when she was five. Her mother remarried when she was seven and started a new family. She grew up relying on her grandmother until she was twenty, four years ago.
Her grandmother, the only person in the world who truly loved her and genuinely hoped for her well-being, also passed away.
It seems that her life has been filled with farewells so far, and now that Horstley has also left, it seems perfectly normal.
The blood test results came back, and the doctor said the values showed she was not pregnant. He advised her to rest more, keep a positive mood, and not to take any medication for the time being. He also said that if her period still hadn't come after a while, she should come to the hospital for a thorough check-up during the day.
Because there are cases where pregnancy is detected in the early stages, "Just relax and see how things go."
Jiang Qin thanked them, took the report, and left. She still felt that the chances of getting pregnant were probably not high. It was probably because she had been depressed and staying up late recently, which caused her endocrine imbalance.
It was already past eight o'clock. While waiting for the report, Jiang Qin ordered takeout and was full now.
After thinking about it, Jiang Qin decided to go to a nearby shopping mall to digest her food before returning to Yunhai Huafu.
Given their current situation, it's better for them not to meet; if they do, she'll most likely be the one to suffer.
Jiang Qin really didn't expect that while shopping at a supermarket, she would run into Huo Sili and the popular young actress named Li Xueqian who looked a lot like her.
"Sleeper, won't your wife be angry that you're out here with me like this?"
Li Xueqian's voice was sweet, and she was holding a bag of cutely packaged snacks.
Horst followed behind her, pushing the shopping cart, and casually took the bag of snacks and put it in the cart, the whole thing happening quite naturally.
Upon realizing this, a smile appeared on Jiang Qin's lips, but it wasn't a bitter smile; rather, it was amusement.
It's strange that even though it was Huo Sili who cheated, it was she who felt embarrassed.
Jiang Qin pushed the shopping cart to the other side, and the man's familiar voice reached her ears.
His tone was indifferent and cold, "Whatever she does."
Jiang Qin tightened her grip on the shopping cart handle.
Huo Sili's voice continued, "Pick whatever you like, I'll pay. You only like snacks?"
Jiang Qin couldn't stand it anymore, so she quickened her pace and pushed the shopping cart a long way, not even knowing what was on the shelves around her, until she felt tired and stopped.
Once she stopped, she noticed the strange looks she was getting from the men around her.
Jiang Qin glanced at the shelf, her expression slightly embarrassed. The shelf was full of men's underwear.
The sales assistant seemed unfazed. "Miss, buying underwear for your boyfriend?"
Jiang Qin shook her head and was about to leave when suddenly, a refined and clean male voice called out to her from the side.
"Jiang Qin?" Her tone was uncertain yet filled with joy.
Jiang Qin paused slightly, turned her head to look, and saw a young man whose appearance was both unfamiliar and somewhat familiar.
