Chapter 202 The Black Organization
Chapter 202 The Black Organization
The passageway was filled with a pungent odor, a mixture of putridity and chemical agents, making one want to vomit.
Daigo and Shinjo suppressed their discomfort and carefully moved forward.
With each step, a slight creaking sound came from underfoot, as if the passage itself was groaning in pain.
The distorted portraits on the wall looked particularly grotesque in the dim light, as if the figures in the paintings were about to break free of the canvas and leap out at any moment.
“Daigo, look at these portraits. They seem to be conveying some kind of message.” Shinjo leaned closer to a portrait and examined it carefully.
Daigo glanced at it, his expression grave: "But there's no time to study these things now. Finding clues related to the missing persons case is the priority."
"Then I'll take some photos and show them to Horii for analysis."
Xincheng filmed it with his own camera and uploaded it to the headquarters computer.
They continued onward, and at the end of the passage appeared a heavy stone door.
The stone gate was covered with densely packed runes, which were obscure and difficult to understand.
"A modern warehouse with a stone door? Something's definitely fishy!"
"This door doesn't look simple. I wonder what's behind it." Daigo reached out and touched the stone door, a chill running through his fingertips.
Xincheng took out his tools again, trying to find the mechanism to open the stone door.
Just as he was groping around, he suddenly heard a faint footstep behind him. The two men turned around instantly, weapons pointed behind them, their nerves on edge.
However, there was no one behind him, only endless darkness.
"Could it be my imagination?" Shinjo said in a low voice, but his eyes were still full of vigilance.
"No, I heard it too. There's definitely something following us." Daigo gripped his weapon tightly, his eyes searching the darkness.
At this moment, in the old disco, the men in black walking towards the direction where Lina and Zara were hiding were getting closer and closer.
His eyes were sharp, and every step he took carried a sense of pressure.
Lina and Zara huddled tightly behind the pillar, barely daring to breathe.
When the men in black were just a few steps away from them, Zara accidentally knocked over an empty bottle next to her.
The loud crash sounded particularly abrupt amidst the noisy music.
The man in black immediately stopped and fixed his gaze on the pillar behind him.
“Come out, I know you’re there,” the man in black said coldly.
Lina and Zara exchanged a glance, knowing they could no longer hide, so they suddenly emerged from behind the pillar, their weapons aimed at the man in black.
Upon seeing this, the man in black raised his hands and said, "Don't shoot, we're just role-playing."
Lina and Zara were taken aback, their eyes filled with suspicion.
"Role-playing? In a place like this? Do you think we'd believe your nonsense?" Lina gripped her weapon tightly, remaining vigilant.
The man in black sighed helplessly and slowly lowered his hands: "I'm telling the truth. A group of us like to play some exciting role-playing games in this abandoned place. I didn't expect to scare you."
Zara frowned, sizing up the men in black before her: "Then how do you explain your suspicious behavior in the car earlier, and how you deliberately led us here?"
The man in black quickly waved his hand: "It's a misunderstanding, a complete misunderstanding. We thought you were other players who wanted to play a chase game with us, so we drove around in circles."
Just then, the other men in black in the dance hall took off their sunglasses, revealing relaxed smiles. One of them even took out his phone and showed Lina and Zara photos and videos of them playing games before.
"See? We really meant no harm."
Lina and Zara exchanged a glance, their suspicions lessening slightly, but they still dared not relax completely.
"Even if what you're saying is true, what about what I heard you say before about speeding up the plan and breaking through from within?" Lina pressed.
The man in black paused for a moment, then laughed awkwardly: "That...that's actually a line from our comic. We're just getting to the crucial part."
"Our organization is called the Black Organization, and our main distinguishing features are our all-black attire and sunglasses..."
On the other side, at the stone gate.
Daigo and Shinjo remained highly vigilant, their eyes fixed on the depths of darkness.
"If it's not an illusion, why doesn't that thing show itself?" Shinjo said in a low voice, beads of sweat appearing on his forehead.
"I don't know, but it's definitely looking for an opportunity to attack us. Let's ignore it for now and figure out a way to open this door." Daigo said, joining the search for the mechanism.
The two carefully searched around the stone gate, leaving no corner unchecked.
Suddenly, Daigo noticed a slightly protruding stone below the stone gate, its shape distinctly different from the surrounding stones.
"Shinjo, look at this stone." Daigo pressed down hard, but there was no reaction.
Xincheng came over, observed for a while, and then tried to turn the stone.
The moment the stone turned, the runes on the stone door shone brightly, and the stone door slowly opened.
A bright light shone from inside the door, blinding the two people.
After the two adjusted to the bright light, they discovered that the room was filled with various stone carvings.
The stone sculptures here come in various shapes and sizes, but most of them depict Western angels.
The two photographed the stone sculpture, only to discover a huge portrait painted on the wall.
"This portrait looks like a bat?" Shinjo asked after looking at it for a while.
"Bats, could they be vampire bats?"
