Chapter 1140
Chapter 1140
He Chengshi wanted more than just the fortress; he wanted all the supplies and weapons on it.
However, the two sides are vastly different in strength, so a direct confrontation is not an option; a strategic approach is necessary.
The burly man took two steps forward: "We've figured it out! All the sentries around the fortress are equipped with pulse guns, the muzzles gleaming coldly, they look incredibly powerful! There's an electromagnetic cannon hidden in each of the four directions of the dock, the muzzles pointing towards the sea, our few wrecked ships can't withstand a single hit!"
Another person added, "Also, there's a heavy laser gun on the watchtower in the center of the fortress, capable of covering the entire sea area! I've been secretly observing them with binoculars; their armory is on the first floor of the fortress, the entrance is disguised as a maintenance room, and there are guards at the door!"
"What's most infuriating is that they change shifts every hour, and there are mobile sentries to cover them during the shift changes, so there's not even a gap in their shifts!"
A short man gritted his teeth and said, "Our outdated weapons are no different from firewood sticks in front of their weapons!"
He Chengshi's eyes were so sinister they could drip ink: "No matter how advanced the weapons are, they still need someone to guard them. Find out their patrol routes and shift change patterns more thoroughly—there are always places they can't cover."
"Yes!"
He Chengshi turned to look at the other boy who had been silent all along: "Xiao Sheng, what do you say?"
The boy named Xiao Sheng paused for a moment, then casually pointed to the fortress across the street outside the window: "Look there, the fortress's backup power station is on the west side, where the defenses are weakest."
He Chengshi's eyes lit up: "You mean..."
Xiao Sheng said in a cold tone: "The backup power station is the fortress's weak point in terms of energy, and it is not well guarded. But what we want is not to destroy it, but to control it."
"Simply cutting off the main power will temporarily disable the laser guns in the watchtower and the electromagnetic cannons on the dock, and greatly reduce the power of the pulse guns at the outposts due to insufficient power."
"The patrol team will definitely be in chaos, and their shift change will be completely disrupted. We can take advantage of that to rush in and seize supplies and weapons!" The burly man's eyes lit up instantly, and he slapped his thigh as he spoke.
Xiao Sheng shook his head: "It's not that simple. After the main power is cut off, they have ten minutes of emergency power supply time, enough for mobile sentries to block key intersections."
We need to send two people to sneak up near the power station, blow up the emergency power supply box with explosives, and then manually cut off the main power supply.
He Chengshi's lips curled into a sinister smile as he patted Xiao Sheng on the shoulder: "Good lad, you're quick-witted! Alright, let's gather our information for a few more days before we make our move!"
The people inside the cabin immediately perked up, clenching their fists, their eyes filled with greed for the fortress's supplies and weapons.
The unusual activity on He Chengshi's side was quickly reported to Captain Chen.
“He Chengshi and his group have been gathering in a corner and talking privately recently. Our patrol team discovered them and scolded them to disperse, but we couldn’t hear what they were talking about because they were too far away.”
Captain Chen's voice was calm and composed, without the slightest hint of emotion: "Continue to monitor. Report any abnormalities immediately."
"Yes, sir!" the communications soldier replied and withdrew, though he was somewhat puzzled.
These days, He Chengshi's men have been making frequent moves. Although they are stopped by the patrol team each time, their restless demeanor makes it clear to anyone with eyes that something is wrong.
The captain seemed unconcerned, giving no further instructions other than to continue monitoring.
Silence returned to the command room. Captain Chen looked out the window. The sea shimmered, and He Chengshi's two ships were anchored in the distance, like two silent reefs.
He knew exactly what the other party was planning. Zhou Shuwan and Qi Mingyu's "provocation" at sea that time was just handing the other party a fuse, and now it seems that the fuse is about to burn out.
For the next three days, the sea was unusually calm.
He Chengshi's people just went about their daily routines on the ship, and seemed no different from usual.
The fleet's patrols continued on schedule, and everything seemed orderly, as if the previous tense atmosphere was just an illusion.
On the third day, the weather wasn't very good; a thin layer of fog covered the sea.
He Chengshi stood in the center of the cabin, his sharp gaze sweeping over the hundred-person team in front of him.
Everyone carried heavy bags and wore a resolute expression.
The burly man, the tall, thin man, Xiao Sheng, and several other trusted confidants stood at the front, their eyes filled with eager anticipation.
"It's almost time. The fleet's morning patrol just passed by, and the next patrol won't board for inspection until noon." He Chengshi's voice was very low: "Remember everything clearly. Be quick and gentle. There can't be any mistakes!"
"Understood!" the crowd responded in unison, their voices low but filled with a fierce intensity.
He Chengshi nodded and turned to the several particularly robust men beside him: "You guys, be careful not to get caught."
The men grinned, revealing yellow teeth. One of them patted his chest and said, "Don't worry, boss! This water temperature is like taking a bath for us!"
As soon as they finished speaking, they took off their coarse cloth clothes, leaving only shorts, and jumped into the sea.
The seawater temperature was over fifty degrees Celsius; an ordinary survivor would probably have been scalded instantly.
But these people moved nimbly through the water like fish, silently swimming towards the deep sea.
He Chengshi stared intently in the direction they had disappeared, his palms slightly sweaty. This was the most crucial step in his plan; success or failure hinged on it.
About half an hour later, a ripple suddenly appeared on the sea, and the men emerged from the water one after another, dragging several thick ropes behind them.
They waved towards the ship to indicate that everything was going well.
He Chengshi looked at the patrol team, who waved their hand and said, "Nobody's here! It's safe!"
He Chengshi immediately ordered, "Everyone, get to work and pull the stuff up!"
The people on the ship immediately sprang into action. A dozen or so people worked together to pull the ropes, and one by one, the huge containers slowly rose from the sea, splashing water everywhere.
These containers were tightly wrapped in tarpaulins and hung with heavy chains, clearly indicating that they had been carefully hidden on the seabed.
Five shipping containers were all hauled onto the deck.
He Chengshi stepped forward, ripped open the tarpaulin of one of the containers, and opened the door, instantly revealing all sorts of weapons inside—old-fashioned rifles, grenades, explosive charges, and even two small mortars.
Although they cannot compare to the advanced weapons of the fleet, their numbers are large enough to equip the current squad of one hundred men.
A satisfied glint flashed in the burly man's eyes. "With these guys, we're much more confident of taking the fortress!"
He Chengshi sneered, his gaze fixed on the distant sea, in the direction of Lao Yao's fleet: "I wonder if Lao Yao and his men are ready!"
