Chapter 557:Attacking The Enemy Camps
Chapter 557:Attacking The Enemy Camps
The battlefield slowly calmed as the order to retreat spread, and although the fighting did not stop completely, the forces of Frostvale began pulling back in a controlled manner while covering each other's movements.
Ray stepped back first, and his sword still carried traces of blood while his eyes scanned the battlefield one last time, and then he turned and moved toward the rear without hesitation.
Herion followed beside him, and his posture returned to that same lazy stance, although his gaze remained alert while watching for any sudden attacks. Leon came last, and even while retreating, he did not forget to grab one last enemy and slam him aside before stepping back.
The Wyvern riders above also adjusted their formation, and instead of pressing forward, they shifted to cover the retreat while maintaining pressure from the sky.
Soon, they crossed back into the defensive perimeter of Frostvale, and the gates behind them remained heavily guarded while the magical barrier shimmered faintly across the walls.
Inside, the atmosphere was tense but controlled, and soldiers moved quickly while reorganizing their lines and tending to the wounded.
At the center of the command area, Amber and Julia stood side by side, and Rathlos stood slightly ahead with his hands behind his back while his gaze remained fixed on the battlefield outside.
As the three returned, Julia looked at them and her lips twitched slightly.
"You kids… can you calm down a bit!" she said.
Her tone carried irritation, but there was also relief hidden beneath it.
Leon scratched his head lightly and stepped forward.
"But we are clearly winning, Mother!" he said.
Julia narrowed her eyes slightly and folded her arms.
"You are winning, but if the other side disregards everything and starts sending experts, you would be in dire trouble," she replied.
Her words were calm, but they carried weight.
The three of them fell silent for a moment, and their expressions dimmed slightly as they understood what she meant.
The Blanks did not lack Emperor Knights, and their current strength was enough to hold the battlefield for now, but if Legendary Knights or Mythic Knights started to move seriously, then the situation would change quickly.
And above that were Divine Knights.
Rathlos, Amber, Kassandra, and Mareti were the only Divine Knights they had.
That number was not small, but it was not enough to take risks blindly.
Ray exhaled slowly and looked toward Rathlos.
"What should we do now?" he asked.
Rathlos remained silent for a moment, and then he spoke calmly.
"Drag the battle," he said.
His voice was steady.
"Let's drag it as much as possible until Ethan returns."
Amber nodded slightly as she heard that, and her eyes turned sharp while she looked at the map placed on the table nearby.
Frostvale had already formed a layered defense, and multiple barriers, artillery points, and aerial units were placed carefully to hold the line and delay the enemy.
At the same time, another force was deployed.
The Black Thorns.
They moved quietly toward the other side, and because they had Beastmen among them, they managed to sneak into the enemy's outer formations without raising too much suspicion.
Soon, information came back.
The one leading the charge from the enemy side was a Mythic Realm Beastman.
This created an opportunity.
If they struck properly, they could disrupt the enemy command and weaken their momentum.
But there was a problem.
If they attacked too aggressively and without control, it could draw the attention of Divine Knights from the enemy side.
And that would be dangerous.
Amber suddenly slammed her hand lightly on the table, and her voice carried determination.
"I think we can take this chance!" she said.
Everyone looked at her.
"My brother will be here," she added.
The moment those words were spoken, a shocked expression flashed across everyone's face.
They all knew what that meant.
Even if they did not know the exact level of Duke Lancelot, they were aware that Amber's father had already reached the peak of Divine Knight and was close to the Saint Realm.
That kind of strength was enough to change the battlefield.
Rathlos narrowed his eyes slightly and then gave a small nod.
"…Then we can move carefully," he said, and his voice remained steady while the weight of the decision settled in the room.
Amber straightened her posture and looked toward the battlefield again, and her eyes turned sharp as she focused on the shifting formations outside while thinking through the risks.
"We will sneak in and strike where it matters," she said, and her tone carried quiet confidence.
Rathlos stepped forward slightly, and his presence grew heavier as a faint pressure spread around him while his gaze remained fixed ahead.
"I will take the front," he said, and there was no hesitation in his voice.
Amber nodded without delay, and she adjusted her stance while preparing herself.
"I will move with you," she replied.
The decision was made, and no one spoke further because they all understood what needed to be done, so the plan moved forward without delay.
They would act as the vanguard and strike the forces behind the enemy lines while maintaining control and avoiding unnecessary risks, and at the same time they would keep their movements hidden as much as possible.
Around them, the soldiers continued their preparations while weapons were checked and signals were passed quietly, and the atmosphere inside Frostvale shifted as tension turned into focused intent.
...
Soon after, under the cover of night and shifting winds, Rathlos and Amber moved out, and their figures disappeared into the battlefield while taking a concealed route guided by scouts who knew the terrain well.
The snow-covered land stretched quietly, and although the wind moved softly across the ground, the distant enemy camps remained active while fires burned across the area and guards patrolled in steady patterns.
Rathlos raised his hand slightly, and the shadows around him began to twist while his figure blurred as darkness wrapped around his body, and his presence became harder to detect.
Amber followed closely behind, and her steps were silent while her aura remained restrained so that she would not give away their position.
They slipped through the outer lines without raising any alarms, and the guards who passed by never noticed their presence while they moved deeper step by step.
Then they struck.
Rathlos appeared behind a group of high-ranking Beastmen, and his shadow blade cut through them instantly while their bodies dropped before they could react, and the motion was clean and without wasted effort.
Amber moved from the side, and her strike was precise while she took down another target and then shifted her position immediately so that she would not be caught in a counterattack.
They did not waste time, and they continued moving deeper into the camp while removing targets one after another, and each step they took caused more confusion as leaders disappeared without warning.
"What is happening?!" one of them shouted.
"Who is attacking?!" another yelled while looking around in panic.
The confusion spread quickly, but before it could stabilize, Rathlos struck again while his shadow sword extended unnaturally and sliced through multiple targets at once, and the camp began to fall into disorder.
The slaughter continued, and the pressure grew heavier as they pushed forward without slowing down.
Then a sudden presence surged, and the air shifted sharply.
A figure shot forward at incredible speed, and his body blurred like a streak of light while he lunged toward Rathlos, and his claws tore through the air while aiming directly for his throat.
It was a Beastman from the Cheetah tribe, and he was a Mythic Realm warrior.
CLANG!
Rathlos blocked the strike instantly, and the ground beneath them cracked as the force collided while the shock traveled outward.
The Beastman grinned as he locked eyes with Rathlos.
"So you are the one…" he said.
